Skill Development and Livelihood
More than one-third of Indians are under the age of thirty, and this group makes up a sizable portion of the labor force in the nation. If the young people in India, a nation with a large youthful population, have higher skill levels and are more employable, they will benefit more from the demographic dividend. It is imperative that the youthful energy of the impoverished be directed in the right directions to support national development and economic growth.
Through its Livelihood program, the CAN Foundation links young people from underprivileged communities and groups who are unemployed or underemployed with industries that have significant growth potential for both revenue generation and employability. The enormous youth population that is underutilized in the workforce due to a lack of training and necessary credentials is mainstreamed, upskilled, and encouraged to contribute to the nation's progress. The livelihood program is in line with Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 8 and seeks to supplement the government's vision and efforts under the Skill India mission.
